Parking Management

At GPR there are 31 external car parking spaces at GPR, including 2 disabled car parking spaces. Managing these spaces continues to be a difficult task as non-genuine visitors abuse our parking facilities. The ACT Government no longer provides any service to us. Genuine visitors, health care workers, tradies, retail customers and guests, are often frustrated at the lack of car parking spaces available.

The EC will be introducing the WayLeadr Parking Management System (PMS) to proactively control the use of common property visitor’s car spaces and prevent unauthorised people from parking in these spaces.

The system employs an automatic Bluetooth controlled Parklio parking barrier in each car parking space. Registered users can reserve a car space in advance for a fixed time on a particular day through the internet using the WayLeadr website. Registered users can also send invitations to visitors and clients. The car space booking is confirmed by a reservation advice email.

Once the driver arrives at their reserved car space, they lower the barrier using a button in the parking reservation on their smartphone. The parking barrier moves forward and lays flat, allowing a vehicle into the parking space. After leaving the parking space, the parking barrier automatically raises to prevent anyone else from using the parking space. A booking allows multiple uses of the car space during the booking time, i.e. the visitor can return to the same space by again lowering the barrier on their smartphone.

The replacement of the Aluminium cladding is preventing the introduction of the new PMS. Once the cladding remediation is complete residents will be provided with a User’s Guide that provides a step-by-step guide on how to become a registered user and how to book car spaces and operate the barrier. It covers both personal computers and smartphones.
